Flood Mitigation Projects for Montgomery County, Potential Grant Funds from TWDB

In our most recent County Commissioners meeting, approval was given to hire grant writers to help secure grant funds from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB).  Application submissions will begin on September 30, 2020.

According to Jason Milesaps, Office of Emergency Management, MoCo has planned for the following flood mitigation projects to be addressed with the grant funds:  De-snag and De-silt the following streams, creeks or rivers –  Lake Creek, Caney Creek, Peach Creek, White Oak, East Fork San Jacinto, Mill Creek, Brushy Creek, Walnut Creek, Spring Creek.  Elevation increases for Sawdust Bridge and Roman Forest Bridge.  Intersection improvements for SH 242 at I45.  Plus thirty potential FMA buyout properties.

The potential funds received for the six grant applications is $124.4 million.
